Everyone's a winner! Results of the morning's Dragon Boat racing have been posted with first place going to Cuauhtemoc (Mexico), second place Challengers 1 and 4 (UK) and third and fourth places going to Mir (Russia) and Shabab Oman (Oman) respectively. Prizes were awarded at the end of the Crew Parade - always a favourite with the local port visitors. Marching through the town accompanied by pipers and drummers, the crews looked splended in their various uniforms and fancy dress. 'Best ship's crew in the parade' was awarded to Cuauhtemoc. 'Ship furthest from home' was awarded to Capitan Miranda (Uraguay). Challengers 1 and 4 jointly won the award for 'Ship which contributes the most to its stay in Falmouth'. 'Youngest trainee in the Regatta' was won by Ross James sailing on Pelican (UK) . Ross will be 16 tomorrow (12 September). In the remaining sports competitions, Volleyball was won by Shabab Oman Team 1, while Shabab Oman Team 2 came second. Capitan Miranda came third. In Tug of War, first place went to Mir (Russia), while Capitan Miranda and Cuauhtemoc came second and third respectively. The football competion was won by Cuauhtemoc. The prizes were presented by the Mayor of Falmouth, Mike Varney, dressed in full regalia. Falmouth welcomed an estimated 16,000 visitors to the town today who were able to go onboard many of the ships. Captain Jack Sparrow made another appearance, delighting children and adults with his tales of the high seas. Princess Pavilion pays host to the crew party this evening, where hundreds of crew from all nations and cultures will enjoy a feast and entertainment.
