Fleet alongside in beautiful city of Funchal

The last of the fleet to arrive in Funchal came into port this morning.  Capitan Miranda (Uruguay) (pictured) came in with the crew standing to attention on deck.  Tecla (Netherlands), who has been at anchor in the bay, came in to moor alongside Capitan Miranda.

This afternoon the Opening Ceremony will take place in the port, overlooking the beautiful city and mountains beyond.  The President of the City of Funchal,  Dr Miguel Albuquerque  will address the captains and crews and will be joined on stage by Dr Francisco Paulino, Executive President of  500 Anos,  Dr Pedro Calado, President of  500 Funchal , and Bernard Heppender,  STI Race Chairman.

This evening the captains will enjoy the hospitality of the city during the Captains Dinner at Forte de Sao Tiago.
