Race update 11: Sunday 28 Sept pm
Leading positions on corrected time remain with the Class A vessels this evening. Alexander von Humboldt (Germany) is in first place both in class and overall, Pelican of London (UK) remains in second place both in class and overall, with Sedov (Russia)(pictured) in third place, in class and overall.
Bringing up the rear of the class are Kaliakra (Bulgaria)(pictured top) in eighth place in class and ninth overall, Pogoria (Poland) in ninth place and tenth overall and Creoula (Portugal) in tenth place in class and eleventh overall.
In combined B, C and D class and on corrected time, Tecla (Netherlands) has taken the lead (sixth overall) from Quero Quero (Portugal), who is twelfth overall. Spaniel (Latvia) is third in class and thirteenth overall.
Backmarkers in the combined B, C, and D class are Challenger 1 (UK) in fifth place and fifteenth overall, Endeavour (UK) in sixth place and sixteenth overall and Challenger 4 (UK) in seventh place and seventeenth overall.
On the water Quero Quero is leading the fleet with 101 miles to go to the finish line (as of 1700hrs this evening). Mir (Russia) is not far behind with 112 miles to go. At the rear of the fleet Creoula has 184 miles to go and Astrid (Netherlands) 207 miles to go.
Funchal is preparing itself for the arrival of the fleet, with Quero Quero (sailing at an increased average speed of 5.3kts) expected to arrive at 1200 GMT on Monday 29 September. Mir is expected to follow at 1500 GMT. More vessels should arrive throughout the evening tomorrow, with most of the rest arriving during Tuesday 30 September.
