Race Update 12: Friday 19 September pm
A warm welcome from Ilhavo
All vessels are now in port except Alexander von Humboldt (Germany) and Gedania (Poland) who are both expected on Saturday 20 Sept at 1000hrs and Spaniel (Latvia) who is currently in Oporto and expected in Ilhavo on Saturday 20 September (no time given). Tecla (Nertherlands) is due alongisde during the morning of Saturday 20 September.
It has been a glorious day in Ilhavo and preparations in port are going well, with expectations for a fabulous weekend building. The ships have all received a warm welcome and the individual liaison offers have met their respective crew.
Sad news is that Juan de Langara (Spain) (pictured), having done so well in the first race until steering problems ended her race prematurely has been unable to effect repairs in time to rejoin the fleet. She has remained in her home port of La Coruna.
With only a few ships left at sea fleet tracking is discontinued until the start of the second race to Funchal.
