Race Update 11: Friday 19 September am

Fleet continue to arrive

All the vessels are now making good progress to Ilhavo with Capitan Miranda (Uruguay) and Kaliakra (Bulgaria) now also in port to join Challenger 1 (UK), Steppe (Belgium) and Mir (Russia).  Sedov (Russia) did not arrive yesterday as scheduled but is now expected today. The Portuguese four masted schooner Creola (pictured) is also on her way to Ilhavo and is expected today.

The back markers are now making their way down the coast of Portugal with Tecla (Netherlands) and Gedania (Poland) (pictured) the furthest away.

No arrival times have been given for Juan de Langara (Spain) who is still in La Coruna undertaking repairs.

Winds are currently very light down the Portugese coast and are due to remain so for the next two days.

The next report will appear around 2000 on Friday 19 September.
